Caning
Pre-Woven and Hand-Woven re-caning services are available. How do you tell the difference? Take a look at the sample images to the right
- Pre-Woven Cane has a thin ‘bead’ around the outside, where the cane meets the wooden seat.
- Hand-Woven Cane will have actual holes drilled through the wooden seat.
Bossert’s Custom Refinishing also provides Rush, Reed and other varieties of Seat Weaving. Call 610-439-3223 for an accurate quote for the completion of your project.
Antique Repair
Many times, a piece is going to require a little TLC before we can best determine an approach that will bring us to the desired end result. This means a little gluing, a little fabricating of pieces, a few re-alignments, a little time and some patience. The photos to the right show various pieces in various stages of repair.
Restoration
Conservation and Restoration are quite a bit different from Refinishing. Conservation is conserving what is present. Restoring is bringing a piece back to it’s original beauty without changing it’s structure or appearance. To the right are a few miscellaneous examples of ‘finished’ restoration projects.
Below is a piece – photos showing various angles and extent of damage – that was restored to it’s original beauty. Please note that this piece was not stripped and retains it’s original color and finish (though replacement parts have been added and a top coat applied).
Stripping
Architectural Elements, Doors, Furniture (both indoor and outdoor, wooden and metal) we can handle it. From a child’s rocker to a full sized, 20+ foot long bar…if it can be taken apart and moved, then we can strip it.
Refinishing
Refinishing is what we do most. Sometimes a piece is too far gone to conserve or restore; sometimes the piece is in great shape, but the color or the finish is just wrong for the decorating scheme. Sometimes…change is good
General Repair
Many times, a piece is going to require a little TLC before we can best determine an approach that will bring us to the desired end result. This means a little gluing, a little fabricating of pieces, a few re-alignments, a little time and some patience.
Fabrication
Part of what we do at Bossert’s Custom Refinishing is present a complete work at project’s end. And sometimes that requires replacement or fabrication of damaged or missing parts and pieces.
